LEON, a renowned global player in digital entertainment, has officially entered the African market, having successfully secured licences to operate in Tanzania.
This strategic expansion marks a key milestone in LEON's ongoing global growth, emphasizing its dedication to introducing top-tier digital entertainment to new and emerging markets.
The expansion into Tanzania is being led by Jérôme J. Dufourg, LEON's Regional Director of Operations for Africa. The company will operate under the commercial brand LEON TANZANIA, which has been granted two licences by the Tanzania Gaming Board.
These licences will enable LEON to provide both casino and sports betting services across the country. The approval process was stringent, highlighting LEON's commitment to adhering to the highest standards of regulatory compliance.
Tanzania was chosen as the launchpad for LEON’s African operations after a thorough evaluation of various potential markets. With a population of 68 million, of which about one-third have internet access, Tanzania offers a vibrant and rapidly expanding market with significant opportunities for digital entertainment.
The country’s strong business environment is characterized by substantial foreign investments, widespread 5G connectivity, and a stable political climate, making it an ideal location for LEON's new ventures.
Jérôme J. Dufourg, Regional Director of Operations (Africa) at LEON, expressed his enthusiasm about the new chapter for the company, saying, “Entering Tanzania is the beginning of a new chapter for LEON in Africa as the company continues to redefine industry benchmarks through its expansion worldwide, delivering innovative digital entertainment solutions to new audiences and propelling our goal to be a market leader and setting industry standards for excellence.”
He added, “The company’s strategic approach, combined with its robust operational foundation in Tanzania, positions us well for success in the rapidly growing African digital entertainment sector, and I’m thrilled to be heading up the operations on the continent.”
With this move, LEON aims to establish itself as a key player in Africa's digital entertainment landscape, continuing its mission to offer world-class gaming experiences and setting new standards in the industry.
